The recent resurfacing of (Hanoi) Jane Fonda to once again terrorize our troops and verbally attack our country, has caused me to reflect yet again on the real lessons of Vietnam.
Of course for Jane, and her ilk, the lessons of Vietnam are;
1) if left untethered by political restraint, our military can be very effective against communist forces, which is counter-productive to the left's goal of converting America to communism.
2) if the left can exert enough pressure on our politicians, our politicians will capitulate, which means they (the politicians) then start inserting themselves into management of the military, which then becomes ineffective, resulting in the enemy winning.
This is the same tactic the left is employing for the current military effort. And of course our current enemy have no doubt read the memoirs of Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap and understand just how significant a roll the American Left plays in their efforts to successfully destroy America.
So, a replay of events in Vietnam, which should be taught in our Governement Funded Indoctrination Centers (public schools).
1) by Tet (chinese new year) of 1968, 10,000 American soldiers had been killed. By the end of the war that number had risen to 55,000.
2) after the Tet Offensive, in which the North Vietnamese mounted an all-out attack against the American led forces of the South, utilizing every bit of resources available, the North was defeated, in every sense of the word. The North army was completely devastated, they were on the run, and Genereal Giap was contemplating the best method of surrender.
3) General Westmoreland requested from Washington 209,000 more troops to finish the NVA/VC off. President Johnson started capitulating to the anti-war crowd and the additional troops were denied. Sound familiar to what is happening in Washington right now?
4) the Tet Offensive was a great victory for the American led forces, yet the American "main-stream" press reported it as a disastrous loss, and that the NVA/VC had achieved a great victory. Sound familiar?
5) when General Giap heard the way the American press was reporting the results, he realized that all the NVA/VC had to do was hold on for another day, another week, another month, and with the aid of the American anti-war left and their willing allies in the press, the communist-led NVA/VC forces could realize eventual victory through a war of attrition.
The end result was 40,000 + more American soldiers were killed in action. Thank you John Kerry, Jane Fonda, et al.
